Abdullah AlAkbari is a Legal Counsel with over 14 years of experience; he is also an independent arbitrator specializing in commercial and investment disputes, specifically in the energy sector.
He has practised international arbitration since 2008 and has been working in more than five arbitrations, nine mediations, as well as more than 15 cases before courts.
Abdullah is the founder of several boutique law firms in the UAE, such as Liwa Legal Consultants and DR Compliance Legal Consultancy.
He is highly regarded for his prompt, efficient resolution of disputes and active case management of arbitrations. He is a Chartered Arbitrator, a member of the Emirates Association for Lawyers and Legal Consultants.
His extensive experience includes district cooling, renewables technologies, pricing and liquidated damages, joint operating agreements, energy exploration, lease agreements, environmental issues, construction, delay damages, completion certificates, power projects, taxation, performance bonds/guarantees, sports licensing, royalty obligations, software licenses, IT patent licensing, joint ventures, IP media rights, charter parties, financial services including market timing, IPOs and insurance disputes.
He is a member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, American Bar Association, London Court of International Arbitration. He is certified Legal Counsel by the Association of Corporate Counsel (ACC), United States of America.
Abdullah is holding an LL.M from UAE University (UAEU). He is currently studying his PhD with Aberystwyth University United Kingdom; he is also alumni of The Program on Negotiation (PON) – Harvard University.
