Ciarb to deliver “Co-Arbitrator Type-Rating” training in association with The Hague CAA

Ciarb’s training will enable professionals highly experienced in aviation industry-focused law practice to become Ciarb Members and join The Hague CAA’s panel of neutrals.

The Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (Ciarb) will deliver the fast-tracked co-chairs training programme in association with The Hague Court of Arbitration for Aviation (The Hague CAA) as part of the Hague CAA’s innovative “Co-Arbitrator Type-Rating”.

Under the agreement, Ciarb will deliver Accelerated Route to Membership training for professionals with 25+ years’ experience in aviation industry-focused law practice.

Upon successful completion of the programme, candidates can join Ciarb as Members and are in-turn eligible to join The Hague CAA’s panel of neutrals, subject to a final selection review process.

Margherita Blandini, Ciarb’s Executive Director of Membership and Education, said, “Ciarb’s globally recognised training sets the benchmark for dispute resolution excellence. Through the association with The Hague CAA, we are reinforcing the value of Ciarb membership and ensuring that professionals in specialised sectors can confidently meet global best practices. Growing Ciarb’s reach across industries and jurisdictions is central to our mission, and we are excited to work with The Hague CAA to build world-class dispute resolution capacity in aviation.”

Paul P Jebely, present Chairperson and Founder of The Hague CAA, said, “Though it seems easy for some in arbitration to overlook, The Hague CAA has done more to shift the paradigm in global aviation dispute resolution since its launch in the summer of 2022 than anything that came before it or that has come since. That alone marks a generational shift – and it’s only the beginning of a broader, continuing transformation. A key part of this transformation is expanding real expertise in aviation industry contractual dispute resolution - both arbitration and mediation. We are pleased to now work in association with Ciarb to this end. While such efforts undoubtedly curate talent for our own institution, we fully recognize that it could also benefit other institutions and, therefore, the aviation industry at large. This is perfectly aligned with our broader mission in genuine (non-profit) service of the vast global aviation industry above all.”

Professionals interested in taking the course must contact The Hague CAA in the first instance. It is not possible to book directly through Ciarb. The Hague CAA Secretariat may be emailed at secretariat@haguecaa.org.
