Ciarb Launches Global Anti-Corruption Roundtable Series

This agenda-setting roundtable series will span six cities—London, New York, Singapore, Kigali, Dubai, and Mexico City.

The Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (Ciarb) is proud to announce the launch of the Global Anti-Corruption Roundtable Series. This multi-stakeholder dialogue will bring together Ciarb thought leaders, policymakers, judges, lawyers, and arbitrators in a candid and solutions-driven discussion.

A Critical Conversation for the ADR Community

Corruption is one of the most pressing threats to the credibility and effectiveness of dispute resolution mechanisms worldwide. While arbitration and other forms of alternative dispute resolution (ADR) offer a confidential, efficient, and effective means of resolving disputes, these mechanisms are not immune to ethical vulnerabilities. The international legal community and the general public have continued to discuss and debate the role that ADR mechanisms may play in enabling corrupt activity.

Ciarb recognises the need for a concerted effort to uphold the legitimacy of ADR mechanisms and do our part to safeguard against corruption in all its forms. Ciarb’s Global Anti-Corruption Roundtable Series will serve as a platform for Ciarb thought leaders to:

  • Identify region-specific challenges in preventing and addressing corruption in ADR.
  • Share best practices and success stories from different legal and regulatory environments.
  • Foster multi-stakeholder collaboration between practitioners, policymakers, and the judiciary.
  • Develop actionable recommendations for dispute resolvers.

Next Steps: A White Paper for Action

The insights gathered from these roundtables will culminate in a Ciarb White Paper that will synthesise key discussion points, regional specific challenges, best practices and success stories, and recommendations. This document will serve as a valuable resource for Ciarb and the global community who are committed to advancing high standards and integrity in ADR.

Cristen Bauer, Head of Policy at Ciarb, says, "Corruption is a fundamental threat to the integrity of alternative dispute resolution, and addressing it requires a collective, global effort. Through this roundtable series, Ciarb is bringing together key stakeholders to engage in an open and solutions-focused dialogue. Our goal is to identify practical, actionable measures that will strengthen transparency, accountability, and trust in ADR mechanisms worldwide. The insights from these discussions will not only shape the global conversation on anti-corruption but also inform meaningful reforms that safeguard the future for global dispute resolvers."

Join the Conversation

Ciarb invites its members and the wider ADR community to follow this important initiative and contribute to the global dialogue on ethical dispute resolution. Further details on participation, key findings, and the White Paper release will be shared throughout the year.

Together, we can build a more transparent, fair, and effective dispute resolution ecosystem.
