Welcome to the Egypt Branch Page
This area of the website is dedicated to the members of the Egypt Branch, helping you to find details about its events and news.
The Ciarb Egypt Branch aims to promote and represent the Ciarb and its services, and encourage the use of out-of-court dispute settlement mechanisms in Egypt and throughout the MENA region.
The Branch acts as the focal point for its members and arbitration/ADR users, within its geographical region, providing a wider knowledge of the law and practice of arbitration and ADR, arranging both social and technical Branch activities and conducting arbitration and ADR training courses.
Branch history
Branch history
On 5 February 1999, the Cairo Branch of Ciarb was established as the first ever Ciarb Branch in the region and the Cairo Regional Centre for International Commercial Arbitration (CRCICA) was announced as its seat. In July 2018, the updated Branch Model Rules named the Branch “the Egypt Branch”.
As of 1999, the Cairo Branch, in collaboration with CRCICA, held regular membership courses and around one third of members at that time were Arab members from outside Egypt.
From 2011 to 2023, the Branch collaborated with CRCICA in holding regionally customized versions of the (then) Module I: Law of Obligations and Civil Evidence and Module 2: Law of Arbitration courses, qualifying both lawyers and non-lawyers for membership of Ciarb.

"When I first came to know the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, I realized that finally, I laid hands on the real difference between just understanding arbitration in general and practicing the gradually incoming international style when handling an arbitral case, whether as a lawyer or as an arbitrator."
- Mr. Taher Hozayen , Patron of the Egypt Branch and the first-ever Egyptian Fellow of Ciarb.
“It is hard to believe that the Egyptian Branch of the Chartered Institute has been up and running for 25 years. I still remember when it was getting off the ground and, as the first Branch in the MENA region, helping to pave the way forward in dispute resolution in that area of the world. At that time, we could only hope that it would be a success and I personally could never have dreamed that it would become the success that it has today! As a global institute, the Ciarb provides many opportunities for learning and personal, as well as professional, growth for all of its members and this couldn’t be truer with the Egypt Branch in mind. Being involved in the establishment of this Branch of the Ciarb has not only been an honour, but a real pleasure, as this Branch seems to be standing the test of time.”
- Prof. Dr. Nael G. Bunni C.Arb, Past President of Ciarb, Director, Bunni & Associates, Independent international arbitrator and amicable dispute resolver in the construction sector
