Requirements

Choose one of the following routes to Associate membership:

  • The Ciarb assessment route: Successfully complete one of our Associate grade assessments.
  • The RCP route: Submit evidence that you have successfully completed an accredited course with one of our Recognised Course Providers (RCP).*
  • The experience route: Provide evidence of a minimum of six months’ experience in dispute avoidance or dispute management in a professional capacity.*

When you apply through the experience route, please submit the following documents: 

 

1. Your latest Curriculum Vitae (CV)

 

Please ensure your CV includes a brief statement highlighting your key qualifications, experience and career objectives. It should also provide details on:

 

  • Your contact information
  • Work experience, appointments or engagement records in a professional capacity*
  • Education
  • Certifications and professional development
  • Publications and Presentations records
  • Professional affiliations
  • Awards and honors
  • Records, if any, of ongoing learning activities – Continuing Professional Development (CPD) or Continuing Legal Education (CLE).

 

*Work experience needs to reflect roles and responsibilities or indication of your involvement in any process or procedure in ADR matters in a professional capacity.

 

Please DO NOT include:

 

  • Assertations about your standing or reputation in the profession.
  • Details of earnings / income.
  • Photographs.

 

2. A copy of a reference letter from an individual (preferably an arbitrator, mediator or adjudicator) who has first-hand experience of your participation in a dispute avoidance or dispute management process within the last six (6) months.

 

Please note:

 

  • The letter must be submitted on business-headed paper or an email from a business address account which includes the business signature.
  • Referees must include their contact details (email and telephone number) so Ciarb may contact them.
  • Referees must provide a clear indication of their first-hand experience with you, including stating the type of dispute management or avoidance case, your capacity in the case, your contribution or involvement in the case, and the case outcome.

Annual membership fee

Associate grade membership fees differ depending on your country of residence, and the month in which you join us (fees are pro-rata on a monthly basis).

*Candidates who complete courses with Ciarb or with one of Ciarb’s RCPs, should apply for membership within two years of completion.
