One of the founding partners of Ghorly & Partners, Karim specialises in construction law with emphasis on infrastructure projects, public/private works contracts and dispute resolution. With a track record of representing several clients in arbitrations ensuing from construction contracts, Karim takes lead of litigation in the arbitration and dispute resolution practice group for disputes related to construction contracts. Karim has previously represented prominent Levant contracting companies in arbitration proceedings before the ICC, ZCC, and BCCI. Prior to joining the firm, Karim worked for many years in the West African market representing corporates established and operating in West Africa in different industries. Acting as the corporations’ interface with government officials at the highest levels and with all relevant organizations and partners, Karim developed extensive knowledge of the West African market and business modus operandi enabling him to best advise his corporate clients on market entry strategies, risk management, labour law issues and partnership structures. Spearheading negotiations with West African public entities, Karim successfully secured contracts for substantial public works infrastructure projects and built a transparent framework for seamless execution. In the Levant region, Karim was involved in the negotiation and structuring of sizable real estate projects representing project owners in some instances and contracting companies in others.
