Ian Henderson has over 37 years professional experience in commercial building surveying, working solely in private practice to provide a broad range of building surveying services to clients in the public and private sectors. He became a professional member of the RICS in October 1987 and has been Director of his own company, Henderson Surveying Ltd since 2003. Consultancy services to meet and satisfy client requirements range from due diligence commercial surveys prior to purchase or lease, schedules of condition, maintenance and property management advice as well as project services acting as lead consultant, principal designer and contract administrator for the repair, maintenance, alteration and refurbishment of buildings in the commercial, business and residential sectors. Ian became a member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators in January 2000 and achieved a Level 7 BTEC Professional Award in Expert Witness Evidence in May 2011. Dispute services include being appointed to provide expert opinions on building defects in construction disputes and to provide expert determinations in relation to commercial dilapidations disputes between landlords and tenants. Ian has also represented the successful parties in prominent Scottish court cases involving dilapidations disputes. With extensive knowledge and experience in dealing with dilapidations claims, Ian has received nominated appointments as sole arbitrator from professional bodies as well as from the parties directly through their solicitors. Ian continues to service client requirements as they arise and maintains a keen interest in dispute resolution work.
