Chartered Arbitrator, CIArb Diploma in International Commercial Arbitration, CIArb Accredited Mediator, IEI Accredited Conciliator, FIDIC Certified Adjudicator, Irish Ministerial Panel Adjudicator, ICE & CIArb & RICS & CIC Accredited Construction Adjudicator. Dr Derek Ross is a Chartered Civil Engineer and Fellow of Engineers Ireland. He is also a Chartered Arbitrator, Accredited Mediator and Certified Adjudicator on the FIDIC President’s Panel, the Irish Ministerial Panel and several UK Construction Adjudication Panels. Derek graduated with an honours degree in civil engineering from Trinity College Dublin in 1969. He was awarded a PhD in 1976 for work on shifting-bed hydraulic models, and in 2000 he obtained an MSc (with merit) in Construction Law and Arbitration from King’s College London. He also holds a Diploma in International Commercial Arbitration from the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators . Between 1972 and 1992 Derek worked for both Contractors and Consultants on a variety of civil engineering projects in Ireland, the UK and the Middle East, predominantly relating to civil infrastructure and harbour works. He currently works full-time as a construction adjudicator, arbitrator, mediator, conciliator and/or dispute board member.
