Mr. Gift Mileji, MCIArb, I am a partner in the firm, Malambo and Company, which i joined in March 2022. I was admitted to the Bar in February 2008 and I have over 14 years of good standing at the Bar, as member of the Law Association of Zambia. I previously worked in the Ministry of justice (MOJ) for over 9 years in the departments of International Law and Agreement (ILA) and Governance Department from 2006 to the year 2015. My duties and responsibilities at MOJ included; giving legal opinions to various Government ministries and departments. I was also assigned to various government projects as the legal advisor both at national and international fora such as the Kazungula Bridge Project, package I, II & III, which was a Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) funded project, where I was the legal advisor for Zambia from 2009 to 2015. Furthermore, I was a focal point for the Ministry of Justice for the public-private partnership (PPP) unit and I was trained under the auspices of IP3 Institute of Washington, USA. From November 2015 to March 2022, I worked for ZESCO Limited, a Zambia Power Utility company, where I rose to a position of Chief Legal Officer-Litigation for Northern and Copperbelt Divisions. My duties and responsibilities included being legal advisor on the following: The Project between ZESCO Limited and Masen, a power utility company from Morocco, to deal with renewable ages which include solar, geothermal and wind; and the Project between ZESCO Limited and SNEL’ SA., a power utility company from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), which intends to establish a Luapula Hydro Power station on the Luapula river.
