As a professional consultant, I have 35 years of experience in providing commercial support and dispute management services to clients in the construction and engineering sectors. I have particular expertise in the preparation of compensation events and contractual claims and also in representing clients in adjudication proceedings. My early introduction to formal dispute resolution [adjudication under the HGCRA] was sharing an office with a RICS Registered Adjudicator whom I regularly supported in proceedings and I have subsequently acted in over 30 adjudications taking the lead role as Surveyor Advocate myself in the majority of these. In addition, I have provided Expert Opinions and Reports for a variety of clients on a diverse range of matters. Areas of dispute have included NEC compensation events, traditional extensions of time and loss and expense claims, liquidated and ascertained or delay damages, practical completion and take-over, health and safety and defects liability. I also provide regular advice to clients on matters of contract interpretation, dispute avoidance and general commercial management.
