As a law student, my primary motivation for pursuing the LLM in International Business Law is to enhance my current knowledge of the field and to provide a strong foundation for my future as a compliance officer. I worked hard to maintain consistently good grades in most of the modules of my undergraduate LLB program, and I believe that obtaining a bachelor’s degree in English and Mauritian Law is a proof of my dedication, which I aim to carry over to my LLM studies. I have chosen the route of a compliance officer as opposed to barrister, considering that it has become a demanding and interesting field to work especially in this present circumstances. I believe obtaining an LLM in International Business Law is essential to getting the specialised knowledge needed to succeed in this position. Beyond the course, I would like to advance my career by obtaining a full-time employment as a compliance officer in an offshore company. LLM is a tool to climb the ladder in the current field or wish to change fields. International Business Law is focused on a particular area of law which can help me to become recognised as an authority in my chosen profession and open up new career and employment opportunities. The qualifications of a Master of Law can help to focus on the area of specialisation of my choice. Selecting the right path could help to advance my interests, enter a new field of expertise, and set myself apart from other applicants at the time for job applications. Having an LLM from a prestigious university ought to assist me to raise my earning potential, job prospects together with the years of professional legal experience. By studying International Business Law, it will certainly turn out to be a very important phase in my life as it can open a whole lot of opportunities and doors for me to develop personally and professionally.
