Personal bio

Harrie Samaras focuses her practice on commercial cases in the U.S. and abroad involving business and technology disputes. She is a Fellow of the College of Commercial Arbitrators and a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators. She serves as a neutral on an ad hoc basis and for organizations including: the AAA/ICDR, CPR, WIPO, ICC, and the ITC. During her legal career, Harrie represented clients in private practice at the trial and appellate levels in intellectual property cases and she served as Director of Intellectual Property Litigation for a telecommunications company and as Vice President Intellectual Property, Legal, for a business unit of a multi-national pharmaceutical company. Early on, she worked as a staff attorney and then law clerk (for Chief Judge Helen W. Nies) at the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, and as a Patent Examiner at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. Harrie was a past Chair of the ABA Section of Dispute Resolution and she served on the Board and the Executive Committee of the College of Commercial Arbitrators. Harrie is the editor and an author of the book, ADR Advocacy, Strategies, and Practices for Intellectual Property and Technology Cases, published by the Intellectual Property Law Section of the ABA. Harrie holds a B.S. and an M.S. degree in the life sciences, a J.D. degree, and an LL.M. degree in Patent and Trade Regulation Law.
