Reiss is an experienced chartered quantity surveyor and chartered construction manager, having practiced in both consultancy and contracting organisations. Reiss is an adjudicator serving on multiple panels and also an RICS registered expert witness. He acts as a party representative and has also led numerous complex in-house adjudications as a commercial manager/director.
Alongside his work in dispute resolution, Reiss is a commercial director at a PLC leading its advisory, design and build division. Previous to this he worked as a commercial director in one of the UK’s largest MEP contractors, having first gained experience leading MEP sub-contracts in excess of £50m as a commercial manager.
During his time in MEP contracting, Reiss has resolved numerous multi-million-pound final accounts with developers and main contractors, dealing with matters such as variation entitlement, quantum, time- related entitlement and loss and expense claims. He has also settled hundreds of M&E/specialist trade variation accounts, developing a comprehensive understanding of the whole supply chain and a strong technical knowledge of building services, building fabric and the construction process. Along with a strong knowledge of the JCT and NEC suite of contracts, he has also gained years of experience with bespoke contract agreements.
Academically, Reiss holds a Master of Laws degree in Construction Law and Adjudication (achieving distinctions in construction adjudication law and construction adjudication procedure), an RICS diploma in Adjudication and is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators. He is also a member of the Society of Construction Law and the Adjudication Society. In 2021 Reiss honed his skills in dispute resolution by completing an adjudication pupillage under prominent adjudicator and author, Mr Matthew Molloy.
Reiss is also an RICS APC assessor for the construction and quantity surveying pathway, an APC counsellor and CIOB mentor.
