Philip has thirty years’ experience working within the construction industry, with seventeen years in the capacity as a Chartered Architect. Extensive experience gained working in the residential sector on domestic housing, care/extra care, high-rise buildings and complex building refurbishment/new build to domestic and commercial buildings, whilst still in occupation/use. Experience and knowledge; working within both urban, suburban and conservation areas on listed and historic buildings. Achieved three awards in architecture and contract administration: • 2011 RICS North West Property Awards for design of a residential extra care development at Heath View Congleton. • 2010 for both Architecture and Contract Management, Best Architect/Agent awarded by the Local Authority Built in Quality Awards, for a social housing development site in Crewe. • The third award was for Best Social Housing Development awarded by North West Local Authority Building Control for a mixed-use homeless refuge residential building and adjacent social housing residential development in St Helens. Philip’s MSc in Construction Law and Arbitration, combined with his Chartered Architect professional standing provides a comprehensive breadth of knowledge and experience. This experience, coupled with on-going reading of a Law Degree, all provide a ‘three-pronged interface’ into the broad and varied field of construction and construction law. Current duties include preparation of Referral and Response documentation for adjudication, preparation of legal arguments, program analysis, and undertaking instructions for Expert Witness work; assisting specialist construction insolvency practitioners with contractual advice; assisting Clients, banks, funding providers and corporations with construction contract advice. In 2015, Philip was appointed onto the RIBA Expert Register, one of only ten positions in the UK.
