Ganesh Chandru specialises in International and Domestic Arbitration as well as Commercial Litigation. He is admitted to practice in India, England & Wales and Singapore, and is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, UK and the Singapore Institute of Arbitrators. He has been appointed by the Government of India as a part-time member of the ‘India International Arbitration Centre’ at New Delhi, which has been declared by an Act of Parliament as an institution of national importance. Ganesh’s practice encompasses advising and representing parties in international arbitration matters (under Rules of SIAC, ICC, LCIA, SCMA, UNCITRAL as well as ad hoc) and arbitration matters seated in India that are conducted pursuant to the Arbitration and Conciliation Act, 1996. He also advises and represents parties in litigation matters before the courts. He has handled cases arising from transactions relating to Oil & Gas; Infrastructure; Projects & Construction; Power / Energy; Telecom & IT; Banking & Finance; Joint Ventures; General Corporate and Commercial matters. Ganesh also sits as an arbitrator and is a member of the Panel of Arbitrators of the Singapore International Arbitration Centre, the Asian International Arbitration Centre (formerly Kuala Lumpur Regional Centre for Arbitration), the Indian Council of Arbitration, the Nani Palkhivala Arbitration Centre, Madras Chamber of Commerce’s Arbitration & Mediation Centre and is on the list of arbitrators of the Mumbai Centre for International Arbitration. He was an elected member of the Council of the Singapore Institute of Arbitrators from 2010 to 2014 and chaired some of its key committees. He has been recognised in the ‘Global Arbitration Review 100 (2009)’ as a “Significant” name and has been listed as one of the “Future Leaders” by ‘Who’s Who Legal’ and the ‘Global Arbitration Review (GAR)’, London in the 2017 and 2018 editions of ‘Arbitration: Future Leaders’. In recognition of his dedication and contribution to Arbitration and ADR he was conferred the ‘Capital Foundation National Award 2020’. He was recognised in the Asian Legal Business (ALB) ‘India Super 50 Lawyers 2021’ based on client feedback.
