Olusola Ephraim-Oluwanuga, mni is a Chartered Arbitrator of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (UK), a Fellow of the Society of Construction Industries Arbitrators. He is a member and delegate of the International Chambers of Commerce (ICC) - Arbitration Commission in Paris and Nigeria and immediate past member of ICC Nomination Committee vested with responsibility of proposing arbitrators to the ICC Nigerian National Arbitration Commission for selection. He is also a member of the International Kigali Arbitration Centre and African Arbitrators Association (AfAA). Oluwanuga is a member of panel of arbitrators of the Lagos Court of Arbitration (LCA); a Member of panel of Arbitrators and Mediators of the Abuja Multi-Door court house. He is the immediate past Chairman of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb) (UK), Abuja Chapter, a Member of faculty and tutor of the CIArb (UK) and the Chartered Institute of Directors among (CIoD) others, where he tutors Directors on Corporate Governance related issues.
Olusola Ephraim-Oluwanuga has acted as Arbitrator in various capacities in a number Disputes such as in the construction, commercial, contractual joint venture, property and maritime as either Chairman of panel/ presiding sole, party- appointed arbitrator and party-advisor. He has mentored and coached a number of persons who have qualified in different cadre of Membership and fellowship of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIARB) UK and are practicing Administrative Secretaries and Arbitrators of note. He arbitrated over several disputes as one of the Honorable members of the Investments and Securities Tribunal, a specialized Tribunal for the resolution of capital market, investments and securities disputes from 2002-2008. Oluwanuga has a demonstrable subject matter competence in the law and practice relating to Arbitration, Investments, Capital markets, commercial transactions, Contracts, Telecommunications, Pension Industry and Construction among others.
As a member to a number of Board committees of companies and Non-Governmental organisations in the manufacturing, pensions, oil & gas, property and financial sector, Oluwanuga has helped in mediating and resolving several corporate, commercial and corporate governance disputes.
As a contribution to the growth and development of the arbitration sector, Mr. Oluwanuga organized the maiden Ephraim Arbitration Day, with the topic: “Curbing Guerrilla Tactics in Arbitration Practice in Nigeria” (https://youtube/JJQd-rbxzzc). This was an event that brought together stakeholders in the arbitration sector to discuss strengthening the arbitral process. The second edition of Ephraim Arbitration day was titled “Due Process Paranoia in Nigeria Arbitration Practice: Reality or Illusion” (https://youtu.be/nZ2tMj5ZJBg.). This second edition birthed a newsletter “Ephraim News” which contains discussions, topical issues and viable solutions to the topic of discourse. This informs his philosophy in his handling of Arbitration matters to ensure matters are handled without delay or expense. Oluwanuga has arbitration as his area of research interest. He has a certificate in Negotiation and Settlement Advocacy from Pepperdine University School of Law –Straus Institute for Dispute Resolution, Malibu, United States of America (USA).
