Dr. Shehab Farouk is the Legal Director of the Infrastructure, Construction, and Energy Disputes (ICED) at the International Law Firm CMS, based in its Oman office. With over 15 years of experience in international commercial arbitration in the Middle East, Shehab is a dual-qualified legal consultant in Oman and a lawyer before the Egyptian Courts of Appeal. Shehab’s legal practice focuses on providing expert advice and counsel on matters related to Omani law to a diverse range of clients, including both local and international entities. His areas of specialization include civil, commercial, corporate, arbitration, and construction law, and he brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to each client engagement. Shehab has represented leading construction corporations in Oman, appearing on their behalf in state court and arbitral tribunal proceedings. He has also served as an arbitrator in both ad hoc and institutional arbitration. In addition to his legal practice, Shehab has been certified as a tutor by The Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, where he teaches International Commercial Arbitration to candidates in Saudi Arabia and Oman through virtual and in-person classes. He is also honoured to have been selected to represent Oman at the International Council for Commercial Arbitration (ICCA) in 2023. Shahab’s expertise extends to drafting arbitration and mediation rules for the Oman Commercial Arbitration Centre (OAC), as well as developing and delivering training programs for the Saudi Center for Commercial Arbitration (SCCA), including topics such as "Drafting Dispute Resolution Clauses" and "Arbitral Tribunal Secretary Preparation". In 2023, Shehab has been appointed as the LCIA YIAG Regional Representative for the Middle East. With his extensive experience and expertise in international commercial arbitration, Shehab is a trusted legal advisor and a respected figure in the legal community in Oman and the Middle East.
