Riaan Booysen is a member of the Johannesburg Society of Advocates and the Protea Group of Advocates in Sandton. He has more than twenty years of legal and commercial experience. He specialises in construction, engineering, infrastructure and project arbitrations. Riaan’s qualifications include a Certificate in Merger and Acquisition Law and Regulation from the University of Pretoria. He completed Level II of the Chartered Financial Analyst Program at the CFA Institute in the USA and holds a Diploma in International Commercial Arbitration from the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators in the UK. Riaan is a fellow of the CIArb and Chairman of the South African Branch, a fellow of the Association of Arbitrators (Southern Africa) and member of the General Commercial Panel of the Arbitration Foundation of Southern Africa. Riaan completed the Advanced Mediation Workshop: Mediating Complex Disputes, Harvard Law School (2016) and is accredited as mediator by the Centre for Effective Dispute Resolution and the Africa Centre for Dispute Management. Riaan represented clients in mediation and assisted disputants to settle complex disputes through mediation and facilitated amicable settlements, drafting of a Notarial Deed and restored working relationships involving infrastructure, financial, partnership, family, property, commercial and petroleum disputes.
