Allan has over 20 years of progressive experience as a professional quantity surveyor, project manager and arbitrator, providing leadership in successfully managing construction projects and resolving disputes. With a proven track record in successfully delivering the majority of construction projects within ±10% of the signed contract price and to specification, Allan has successfully directed and led teams in managing some of the most complex new developments, tenant improvements, retrofits and infrastructural developments. His experience spans several sectors including low-rise and high-rise construction developments in residential, commercial, hospitality, institutional, energy, banking, religious, industrial and road sectors. Allan has successfully led commercial teams in negotiating and settling more than 97% of all project final accounts without any dispute, including resolving arising claims, to the satisfaction of the parties to the contracts. In addition to helping construction companies to prepare contractual claims, he has led technical teams in working with legal representatives to prepare and strengthen clients' cases in arbitral proceedings. In the process of executing his professional duties, he enjoys developing and motivating people and teams, and developing business strategies aimed at establishing and strengthening lasting relationships with valued clients. Allan also enjoys sharing his experiences and has spoken at seminars, workshops and conferences, including addressing quantity surveyors on the available opportunities in the profession, and contractors and practitioners on the extension of time claims. Aside from teaching at the University for over 15 years, Allan has trained, nurtured and mentored several young quantity surveying graduates. He has also published several Scholarly Papers and serves as a regular peer-reviewer of leading international journals in construction management.
