Personal bio
Dr SOOKSRIPAISARNKIT obtained LLB degree from Thammasat University in Thailand where he first found interests in Maritime Law and Private International Law (Conflict of Laws) subjects. He obtained his LLM in International Commercial Law from the University of Leicester in the United Kingdom where he developed deeper understanding of Maritime Law, especially aspects of marine insurance law and carriage of goods by sea. His PhD was also from the University of Leicester. His PhD thesis was in the field of marine insurance law. His interests in private international law enable him to extend his interests into certain related fields - admiralty procedure, international sales of goods, and aspects of international arbitration. Dr SOOKSRIPAISARNKIT is an Accredited Mediator by both the Centre for Effective Dispute Resolution (CEDR) and the Hong Kong Mediation Accreditation Association Limited (HKMAAL). He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (FCIArb) and a Supporting Member of the London Maritime Arbitrators Association (LMAA). He was on the Executive Committee of the Hong Kong Maritime Law Association (HKMLA) and remains involved on a voluntary and informal basis in the Hong Kong Insurance Law Association Limited (HILA), where he was on its Executive Committee. He is also a member of the Maritime Law Association of Australia and New Zealand (MLAANZ) and an Associate Member of the Australian Insurance Law Association (AILA).
