Personal bio

Andrey is a dual qualified (England & Wales and Russia) international arbitration lawyer currently based in Dubai. Before relocating to the Middle East, he was based in Moscow for some 14 years and represented clients before Russian and foreign courts, and international arbitral tribunals. His practice spans commercial, joint venture, M&A, financial and construction disputes, often with some nexus to Russia and other CIS countries.

Andrey has acted as the lead counsel in numerous arbitration under the ICC, SCC, LCIA, SIAC and ICAC Rules, governed by English, Swiss, Swedish, Dutch, French, German, Canadian, Russian and Cyprus law. He has conducted his own advocacy in Russian and English, including cross-examinations of fact and expert witnesses before common law, civil law and mixed tribunals. Andrey also sits as an arbitrator in domestic and international cases under various sets of rules, including the ICC Rules.

Andrey is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, an officer of the LCIA European Users’ Council, a member of the VIAC International Advisory Board, a member of the Board of the Arbitration Institute of the Finland Chamber of Commerce and a member of the Board of the Russian Arbitration Centre.

Andrey was one of the drafters of the Rules on the Efficient Conduct of Proceedings in International Arbitration (the ‘Prague Rules’) and a member of the 2020 Review Task Force responsible for revising of the IBA Rules on the Taking of Evidence in International Arbitration. He regularly writes, speaks and lectures on cross-border dispute resolution and international arbitration.
