Beau McLaren is an arbitrator, adjudicator and mediator based in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
A Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, he is regularly appointed as arbitrator to determine complex
disputes across a wide range of sectors, including real estate, construction and international investment. He also
takes appointments to determine general commercial disputes, such as breach of contract claims and debt recovery.
Beau has extensive experience of most institutional rules, as well as ad hoc proceedings, and has acted as Sole
Arbitrator, Co-Arbitrator and Chairman of the Tribunal in a variety of arbitral proceedings.
In addition to his work as arbitrator, Beau acts as a mediator, assisting parties seeking collaborative dispute
resolution. He also takes appointments as adjudicator in both “standing” dispute adjudication boards and ad hoc proceedings.
Beau is qualified in England & Wales and has over 19 years’ experience working across the Middle East. He previously worked in Saudi Arabia for two years before relocating to Dubai in 2007 and is deeply familiar with regional laws and customs.
Beau was previously a partner in a top-ranked international firm in Dubai and, more recently, led the regional
Construction and Construction Disputes practice for another major international firm. Whilst in private practice,
Beau regularly advised clients at all levels of the supply chain on bringing, defending and resolving claims arising out of construction and development projects, as well as commercial disputes, and has significant experience of a wide variety of project contractual arrangements.
Beau is recognised in the leading legal directories for his dispute resolution and arbitration expertise and has
authored a number of articles on arbitration in a variety of industry journals, including a guide to real estate and
construction projects in the UAE.
