Personal bio
Neil specialises in commercial dispute resolution, with particular focus in resolving disputes via alternative dispute resolution such as arbitration and mediation. His areas of expertise include: contract, renewable energy, construction, company law, defamation, arbitration, real estate, professional negligence Neil called to the Scottish Bar in 2023 following 13 years’ experience working as a solicitor in private practice and in-house solicitor-advocate for a global renewable energy company. While in-house, he negotiated and drafted complex FIDIC-based construction supply and service agreements for significant wind energy projects in northern and central Europe. As a solicitor, Neil appeared in debates and proofs in the Scottish Sheriff Court, arbitration proceedings, and a reported Sheriff Principal appeal. In 2016, he became one of only 15 Scottish lawyers Signet Accredited in commercial litigation by the WS Society. The following year Neil was granted extended rights of audience in the Scottish Court of Session and the UK Supreme Court. He is currently the Course Organiser for the University of Edinburgh’s DPLP construction law elective and tutors contract and unjustified enrichment in the University of Edinburgh’s School of Law.
