Personal bio
I completed a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) degree from the Singapore Management University (SMU) and was placed on SMU's prestigious Dean List in recognition of my academic performance during the LL.B. degree. One of the trainings I undertook (2009-10), whilst at SMU, was the intensive International Commercial Arbitration course taught by Prof. Leng Sun CHAN, SC (https://duxtonhill.net/advocates-arbitrators/chan-leng-sun-sc/) - which was created by Prof. Chan, SC in 2008. I have extensive experience in the field of international dispute resolution (particularly, arbitration) in the construction, real estate, maritime and transportation sectors. I also hold an Islamic Finance Qualification (IFQ) issued by the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment, U.K. (CISI) since 2015. The IFQ was initiated by the Banque du Liban (Bank of Lebanon) and was jointly created by l’Ecole Supérieure des Affaires (ESA) and the CISI. These bodies convened the Advisory Council for Islamic Finance (ACIF), a group of experts, to develop and oversee the qualification. Some of my most significant cases (an indicative, not an exhaustive list) as the lead in-house counsel in the past three years in the field of arbitration are: — 2023: USD 120 million (approx.) dispute in the real estate and construction sectors; — 2022: USD 110 million (approx.) dispute in the real estate and construction sectors; and — 2020: USD 20 million (approx.) dispute in the maritime (shiplifts) sector. I also accept appointments as an Arbitrator, Mediator and Adjudicator.
