Personal bio
Janet Walker is an independent arbitrator with chambers in Sydney, London, and Toronto. Over the past 20 years, she has served as sole arbitrator, co-arbitrator and chair in ad hoc arbitrations and arbitrations administered by the ICC, ICDR, DIAC, HKIAC, KCAB, PCA and SIAC in a variety of seats. Her matters range from construction, M&A, shareholder, intellectual property, pharma and environmental. She has a good working knowledge of Spanish and French. Janet is chair of the ICC Canada Arbitration Committee; a member of the boards of the International Construction Law Association and CIArb Canada; and a founding member of SCL North America. She is co-chair of CanArbWeek and an executive editor of the Canadian Journal of Commercial Arbitration. Janet is a Distinguished Research Professor (past associate dean) at Osgoode Hall Law School, a member of the Ontario Bar, and a licensed legal consultant of the New York State Bar. She authors Canada’s main text on conflict of laws, cited in more than 400 judgments.
