Omonigho Oyoma Brown (Mrs.) is a Nigerian trained Lawyer with over 15 years’ corporate and commercial legal experience (amongst others) spanning the Financial Services, Oil & Gas, and Construction Industries. She started her career as a Legal Counsel in Guaranty Trust Bank Plc and later proceeded to work in Schlumberger as a Senior Contracts Analyst where She negotiated and handled big ticket multinational oil and gas services contracts in Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Ethiopia and South Africa. She currently works as the Head of Contract Management in Julius Berger Nigeria Plc where She for provides negotiates, oversees all the Contract Managers in the Company responsible administering and managing contracts for infrastructural development projects in Nigeria. She also provides contract management and legal support to the subsidiaries of Julius Berger Nigeria Plc. She holds an LLM Laws degree from the University of South Wales, UK. She is an alumnus of the Africa Arbitration Academy; a Chartered Arbitrator, Professional Negotiator, Certified Six Sigma Professional, Certified Lean Project Manager, and She is Scrum Fundamental Certified. Omonigho is a member of Africa Construction Law (ACL) and will be a Panelist of one of the Sessions at the upcoming ACL 2023 Conference. She is a Member of World Commerce & Contracting and became a Certified Commercial and Contract Manager Advanced Practitioner (CCMAP) in 2022. She is also an Associate Member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, UK and a Member of the Nigerian Bar Association. Furthermore, she is the Members Relationship Manager and Mentoring Programme Coordinator of the Association of Young Arbitrators (AYA) from 2019 till date, and she has directly contributed to AYA’s projects which have positively impacted the African continent. Some of the projects are: - AYA’s yearly Mentoring programme for young African Arbitrators - Development and Publication of the Africa Arbitration Academy Model Bilateral Investment Treaty for African States - https://www.africaarbitrationacademy.org/model-bit-for-africa/ - Development and publication of a Survey on Costs and Disputes Funding in Africa - https://www.africaarbitrationacademy.org/survey/ Omonigho is known to volunteer her time towards impacting knowledge and sharing her experience for the benefit of others. Some of the engagements she has taken on are as follows: - Being a Speaker and Panelist during a session of the Africa Construction Law Conference 2023, themed "Construction Law in Africa: Navigating Turbulent Times", held in Lagos, Nigeria on 5th & 6th June, 2023. - Being a Panelist of a Paris Arbitration Week 2020 virtual session themed “Can mediation be a credible alternative or a complement to arbitration in Africa?”, organised by CIArb’s Young Members Group along with Eversheds Sutherland, Paris, on 10th July 2020.
