Mr. Joseph Lopez is the founder and managing partner of JOSEPH LOPEZ LLP, an established full-service law firm in Singapore providing comprehensive legal services for local and international clients. He is assisted by a team of lawyers specializing in commercial dispute resolution. Joseph has extensive experience in cross-border international arbitration, commercial litigation, as well as private and institutional mediation. In his 30 years since being called to the Bar, he has acted on behalf of British, German, French, South American, Indian, Chinese, Myanmar, Malaysian, Norwegian, Thailand, Hong Kong, Japanese, American, Indonesian, African and Middle East, and Australian corporations and individuals. Joseph is well versed in commodities arbitration, international joint venture and infrastructure disputes, as well as commercial and corporate disputes including insolvency. Since 1995, Joseph has been and continues to be involved in various international commercial arbitrations involving natural resources disputes (such as coal, iron ore, bauxite, nickel, and manganese), as well as agricultural products (such as pulses, rapeseeds, sugar etc). In particular, he has acted as lead counsel for a few of the top tier mining companies in Indonesia, India, China, Morocco, Middle East and Philippines, in large arbitration disputes involving agreements valued at approximately USD 120 million. Joseph is also a Fellow of both Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and Singapore Institute of Arbitrators, and an Arbitrator in the Reserve Panel of Singapore International Arbitration Centre.
