Personal bio
Carol Wong is a Bar Scholar and a Charles Ching Scholar. She was admitted to the University of Hong Kong via the Early Admission Scheme and later obtained a full scholarship for her LLM studies at the University of Cambridge as a British Chevening Scholar.
Carol has a civil practice with a particular interest in property law and building management matters, equity and trust, commercial law, company law, family law and arbitration.
Carol has undertaken various public appointments. She acted as Deputy District Judge in 2024 and Deputy Adjudicator of the Small Claims Tribunal in 2022. Further, she was appointed by the Chief Executive as a member of the Constitution and Basic Law Promotion Steering Committee from 2018 to 2023 which provides advice and steer on the overall strategy and key aspects for promoting the Constitution and the Basic Law.
Carol is ranked by Legal 500 as a Leading Junior in Construction & Property as well as Commercial Dispute since 2022.
Carol has taught at the University of Hong Kong, Peking University (Beijing) and the East China University of Political Science and Law (Shanghai). She has given seminars to Hong Kong and PRC lawyers, accountants and other professionals on topics including land law, building management, cross-border legal issues, injunction, company law etc. She is a contributing editor of the Hong Kong Civil Procedure (White Book), as well as various chapters of the Annotated Ordinance and Atkin’s Court Forms.
With her fluent Putonghua, Carol has been actively involved in Mainland China affairs. She was the Honorary Secretary of the Greater China Affairs Committee and a member of the China Practice Development Committee of the Hong Kong Bar Association. She was the first batch of Hong Kong barristers appointed as a China Legal Consultant (in Wintell & Co) in 2015. She was a speaker at the Hong Kong Legal Services Forum 2018 in Guangzhou and she participated in various mock arbitration demonstrations in Qingdao, Shanghai, Nanjing and Nansha. In 2022, Carol passed the Greater Bay Area Legal Professional Examination.
