Personal bio
I am an American-educated and trained common law attorney (Juris Doctorate from Washington University in St Louis, a top-tier American law school), but have worked as a foreign legal consultant in Thailand, a civil law jurisdiction, for 25 years so I appreciate the differences between the common and civil law. My employment has been with large international law firms including Deacons and DLA Piper, and since 2008 with my own private practice. My firm, Ployprathip International Law Office, is a full-service law firm but with a strong focus on commercial, corporate, foreign direct investment, arbitration and dispute resolution and regulatory matters. Clients range from Individuals (including High and Ultra-High-Net-Worth) to startups to Fortune 500 Companies and multinationals in many sectors including automotive, other manufacturing, healthcare and pharmaceuticals, hospitality, natural resources, real estate and technology. Professional interests include comparative law, notably the difference between common and civil law, as well as international commercial and corporate law, construction law, economic policy and law, fintech, foreign direct investments and startups. I also have an Executive Master of Business Administration with Honors co-taught by Kellogg School of Management of Northwestern University faculty and decades of experience working with executives, managers and in-house counsels, so I am ever mindful of business practices and concerns.
