Retired Group Legal Counsel at Canary Wharf Group plc responsible for the provision of legal advice to the construction and management arms of the company which has been building the Canary Wharf financial centre together with other iconic buildings both commercial and residential with associated infrastructure. Additionally he has been involved with the building of the Crossrail and Docklands Light Railway Stations at the Canary Wharf Development. Formerly employed by major steelwork contracting company and a major mechanical, electrical and facilities management contractor. Since retirement, Martin has acted as an independent construction adjudicator in disputes under the auspices of both TeCSA and UK Adjudicators (adjudication panel member of both) together with ad hoc adjudications. These adjudications have been held on various of the standard adjudication rules as well as under the Scheme for Construction Contracts The disputes have been at various levels of the supply chain and related to payment, delays, duty of care, defects and the quality of workmanship. Martin has given his decisions both on a reasoned and non-reasoned basis. So far as Martin is aware, his decisions have not resulted in any enforcement difficulties. The adjudications Martin has decided have ranged in value from £25,000 to over £2,000,000 and have involved disputes over hospitals, residential developments, schools and commercial buildings.
