Personal bio

In business and professional relationships where there is a problem to be sorted, and where people want to agree a solution between themselves with my help, I use my knowledge of psychology and my listening skills, well honed by a richness of life experience, to facilitate their constructive conversation during the mediation: Partnerships, Board troubles, building and construction disputes, professional and client conflicts, commercial disputes, quantum decisions, neighbour difficulties, personal relationships, landlord and tenant, sport and arts contexts, labour and employer, school and student - are examples of where I have mediated and parties have found their solutions.

My clerk is Helen Shiels, at mediationclerks@gclaw.co.uk at Garden Court Chambers

I often co-mediate. I mediate in English; however, my knowledge of French, Russian and Polish is sometimes helpful.

I have a strong commitment to voluntary and pro bono work as an activist and positive disruptor; as a mediator I regularly carry out pro bono mediations where need is evident.

I sit as a judge to mediation competitions, train mediators, and mentor those who are newly qualified.

I am skilled at using Zoom, text, WhatsApp, Facetime and phone flexibly to support the mediation process.

I participate in activities as a Fellow of the Civil Mediation Council, a member of the Society of Mediators, a Fellow of the Institute of Directors, a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts, an associate member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, a member of MyCEDR and a Court Assistant Liveryman of the Worshipful Company of Arbitrators. I am an elected Bencher of my Inn of Court and a Trustee of the Incorporated Council of Law Reporting for England and Wales (ICLR).
