Personal bio
Aimé Mbarushimana is a Partner at Shield Associates. He heads the litigation department and provides expert legal solutions through representation in courts of law and arbitration. Aimé is experienced in Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) and is a member of the Kigali International Arbitration Center (KIAC), a member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (MCiarb), the African Association of Arbitration (AfAA) and a member of the “Association pour la Promotion de l’Arbitrage en Afrique (APAA)”. Aimé has been appointed as Sole arbitrator or panel member in different institutional and ad hoc arbitrations. Also, with Shield Associates, he has represented different parties in different capacities. Aimé is an International Accredited Mediator with the Centre for Effective Dispute Resolution (CEDR) of London, The Edwards Mediation Academy (EMA) and an accredited court-annexed mediator with the Supreme Court of Rwanda. Mbarushimana has served as legal advisor to Rwanda Standards Boards (RSB) and has provided thorough legal advisory services to clients. Mbarushimana has distinguished himself as an excellent attorney of over 15 years in the Rwanda Bar Association (RBA) and the East Africa Law Society (EALS). He holds a Master of Laws Degree (LL.M) in International Economic and Business Law from the Kigali Independent University (ULK), and Law Degree (LL.B) from the National University of Rwanda (NUR).
