David is a barrister (based in Melbourne, Australia), Nationally Accredited Mediator (Australia), and a member of a State Tribunal in Victoria, Australia (VCAT). David has a broad commercial litigation and ADR practice. He has previously worked as a lawyer at DLA Phillips Fox (now DLA Piper Australia).
David has acted in matters involving, among others, importers, exporters, local and international banks and financial institutions, public hospitals, property developers, construction firms, and publicly listed companies in the health and agricultural sectors.
David has a Master of Laws from the University of Melbourne, in which he focused on private international law and international commercial arbitration. He has previously lectured in Business and Corporate Law and International Law at a Victorian tertiary institution. As a barrister, he has provided advice on matters such as, the validity and scope of exclusive jurisdiction, governing law and arbitration clauses, as well as applications for stay of proceedings and anti-suit injunctions.
As a member of the VCAT for over 7 years, David has presided over hundreds of cases, including those involving Contract Law, Consumer Law, Domestic Building Law, and Owners Corporations Law. He has published over 40 written decisions and delivered hundreds of oral decisions.
