Personal bio
I embarked on my professional journey in 2000, initially serving as a Trial Lawyer for both civil and criminal cases, and subsequently gaining expertise in contract and dispute resolution. Throughout my career, I have held roles as both a Practitioner and an Educationist.
I have gained practical expertise in negotiation, mediation, expert determinations, arbitrations, and other areas of dispute resolution in fields such as energy (power, oil, gas, liquified gas), construction, procurement and commercial disputes. I represented clients in negotiation, mediation, expert determinations, arbitrations under LCIA & ICC Rules, and the recognition and enforcement of arbitral awards.
Within the Energy Sector's, my services were engaged by the public as well as private sector entities in the power, oil and gas sectors engaged in exploration, marketing, generation, transmission, and distribution. Their disputes spanned technical issues (such as cycling and low load operations) to financial matters (including tariffs, late payments, and interest rates) and the pure questions of law.
In the Construction Sector, I also had the opportunity to represent the public and private sector entities, in both commercial and technical disputes. This included such as extension of time, quantum of damages, reciprocal damages, quotas and escalation. The contracts, at times, were formed on basis of the FIDIC. Some of such disputes involved the enforcement of awards, while others led to contract terminations.
In addition to these roles, I have also been involved in matters related to financial, investment, lending, and banking issues. I have provided legal advice to clients before foreign lenders, offering insights into disputes involving governments and investments from overseas clients, particularly from Germany and the USA and have been actively involved in various pre and post-dispute stages related to procurement, payment, sovereign and bank guarantees.
I have served organisations such as WASA and PITC in labor and service-related disputes. Additionally, I had been a member of the Joint Works Council WASA (MDA) Multan, which focuses on mediation and dispute settlement in basic work matters.
On a local level, I have also been involved in various other types of disputes, including taxation issues and representation before cooperative societies as well as in the family disputes. Moreover, I represented in number of issues related to the arbitrations and ADR.
I have also been appointed as an "Arbitrator" by the Court in a dispute involving a Pakistani Contractor, a local telecommunication service provider, and a renowned foreign mobile company.
Additionally, I have been appointed as an Arbitrator by various parties in different disputes including those related to commercial matters involving shipment of oil from another country.
I am teaching International Law, Contract, Dispute Management at different forums and is involved in providing the Bar Vocational Course to the new lawyers and rendering lectures for the professional lawyers.
Recently, I have started a facilitation centre at Lahore (Pakistan) for the ADR services; named as MARKAZ مرکز ADR.
