Personal bio
Nicola Berry is an attorney-at-law and arbitrator. Prior to this, Nicola was a partner in the largest law firm in Barbados where she provided advice to local, regional and international clients on corporate and commercial law matters including banking, fintech, corporate finance, financial regulation, securities law, trust, employment law, mergers and acquisitions, aviation, competition law, arbitration and energy regulation for thirteen years. She continues to advise on these matters in her current practice. She has advised on various issues relating to arbitrations including the establishment of jurisdiction under bilateral investment treaties, enforcement of awards, the legal effect of the seat and choice of arbitral rules. Nicola is a member of the Arbitration Commission of the Barbados Olympic Association Inc. and the arbitration panels of the Arbitration and Mediation Court of the Caribbean and the Jamaica International Arbitration Centre. She is also a member of the BVI Arbitration Group which is associated with the BVI International Arbitration Centre. Nicola is a member of the CIArb's approved faculty for International Arbitration and the CIArb Caribbean Branch’s newsletter sub-committee. She has served on the CIArb Caribbean Branch’s Barbados Chapter executive committee. She is a member of the International Law Association (Caribbean Branch) and serves on the International Law Association’s International Securities Regulation Committee. She has delivered presentations to a variety of audiences at conferences and workshops on topical commercial law issues.
