Mr. Geoffrey W. Simukoko FCIArb is a senior advocate in Zambia. He was admitted to the Zambian Bar in May 1974 after obtaining his Bachelor of Laws degree (LLB) with credit from the University of Zambia (UNZA) in June 1973. He obtained his Masters in Business Administration (MBA) from Leeds University in the UK in 1983. In 2002 he became a Member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (MCIArb) and a Fellow (FCIArb) in 2017. From 2000-2002, Mr. Simukoko was Project Coordinator for the USAID/ Law Association of Zambia (LAZ) Alternative Dispute Resolution Project. Following that, from 2002 – 2005, he was the Managing Director of the Zambia Centre for Dispute Resolution Ltd. He has offered his ADR expertise in numerous forums, including: drafting the Zambia Arbitration Act No. 19 of 2000; drafting arbitration rules for Zambia Agricultural Commodities Exchange (ZAMACE); resource person of the International Law Institute International Centre for Legal Excellence course in international commercial arbitration; private mediation and Court – Annexed mediation; conciliation under the Industrial and Labour Relations Act; international and domestic arbitration. He has been a member of the CIArb faculty as a Tutor and examiner in Arbitration and Mediation from 2004 to date. He was elected to the CIArb Board of Management as the Africa Representative on the Board in 2012, where he served two terms of three years each, up to 2018. He is currently the Regional Pathway Leader for Zambia Branch of the CIArb.
