Personal bio

James Banda is the Past-President of the Law Association of Zambia (LAZ) and Past-President of the SADC Lawyers Association. He is also a former Council member of the International Bar Association. He holds Master of Laws degree (Construction and Dispute Resolution) from Leeds Beckett University and a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Zambia. He is an advocate of all the Superior Courts in Zambia. He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (FCIARB). James also serves as a Commissioner of the Small Claims Court in Zambia and is member of the Disputes Resolution Board Foundation (DRBF), The Society of Construction Law (SCL), and the Federation of Consulting Engineers (FIDIC) James has held several appointments as arbitrator, mediator and legal expert on various large scale domestic and international commercial disputes. His practice involves advising and representing parties in domestic and international arbitrations, adjudications and court proceedings. His clients include international and local employers, contractors and consultants on engineering, construction, energy, mining and information technology projects.
