Dr. Majid Pourostad is an Iranian-Canadian Internationally Trained Lawyer (ITL), who obtained the degree of Professional LLM in "International Business Law" at Osgoode Hall Law School, York University in Toronto. He successfully completed his NCA exams and currently is a Lawyer Licensing Candidate at Law Society of Ontario, Canada. Dr. Pourostad was also Visiting Scholar at Osgoode Hall Law School hosted by the Distinguished Professor, Janet Walker (2019-2020). Majid has extensive practical experience in negotiating and drafting international business contracts including sale, agency, distributorship and license as well as dispute resolution clauses. Majid moved to Canada in 2014 and since then he has been working hard to strengthen his familiarity with Canadian legal system, in particular with Ontario Arbitration Acts and practice to the level comparable to his understanding of the Iranian procedures and regulations. Majid is a member of Toronto Commercial Arbitration Society (TCAS) and completed TCAS's Gold Standard Course in Commercial Arbitration (September 2017 - May 2018) and then certified as a Qualified Arbitrator (Q.Arb) in Ontario. He is also a Member of Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (MCIArb) in CIArb Canada Branch. He was called to Iran’s Central Bar Association in 2000 and operated a Private Law Practice for nearly 20 years, dedicated to meeting the complex legal needs of corporations and business enterprises in the field of International Business Law, Commercial Arbitration, Contract Disputes and Intellectual Property. Dr. Pourostad has already taken the degrees of LLB, LLM & Ph.D in Private Law from The University of Tehran and before moving to Canada he taught Civil Procedure, Law of Evidence, International Commercial Arbitration, Comparative Law at Islamic Azad University Central Tehran Branch (IAUCTB). He was also a Visiting Researcher at The International Institute for the Unification of Private Law.
