Personal bio
Alan Rustom is a Professional Engineer and construction law professional with over 17 years of experience primarily in project controls, construction claims and contract law. He obtained his Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Ottawa and a Master of Science in Construction Law and Arbitration from Robert Gordon University in Scotland. His experience spans quantum remediation claims, engineering failure claims, delay and disruption claims, change management, scheduling support, risk and contract management.
Alan’s experience also includes working on multi-million-dollar projects for an overseas builder with experience in negotiating and drafting contracts, contract administration, change management, claims management and dispute resolution. His role was managerial in nature, in that he oversaw multiple projects, including the firm’s project management and project controls team. His diverse experience makes him a strong part of a team of managerial experts. Alan’s project diversification portfolio includes design-build, design-finance-build-operate, and fixed-priced build contracts, including P3 government projects.
In addition to Alan’s degrees, he holds a diploma in advanced mediation studies and has mediation training and experience accredited in the UK. He is also a member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (MCIArb) and currently holds Professional Engineering designations in multiple provinces in Canada and Qatar.
