Dr Aigbe “Greg” Ohihoin is a Physician scientist, Consultant Obstetrician, Gynaecologist, Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) expert, and Director of Maternal and Reproductive health research at the Nigerian Institute of Medical Research Lagos, Nigeria. He is currently undergoing a PhD training in molecular oncology at MCW, Wisconsin. He had his undergraduate and post-graduate training spread over three continents of the world. His basic medical degree was from the University of Benin, Benin City Nigeria. He also obtained a Master of Science (MSc) degree in Physiology from the University of Lagos. He is a Fellow of the West African College of Surgeons and of the National Post-graduate Medical College of Nigeria, Faculty of Obstetrics and Gynaecology. He holds a Fellowship and Diploma in the field of Minimal Access Surgery from Asia’s Premiere Institute of Laparoscopy, the Laparoscopy Hospital in Delhi, India. He has a diploma in Clinical Research from the University of Liverpool and a degree certification in Translational Science from the University of Texas Health Science Center (UTHSCSA) in San Antonio, Texas. He is an alumnus of the Japan International Co-operation Agency (JICA). Dr. Ohihoin has almost 60 publications in peer-reviewed journals and academic resources including six textbooks in his primary specialty. Dr. Ohihoin is a member of several local and International medical associations including the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), the Society of Gynaecologists of Nigeria (SOGON), and the World Association of Laparoscopic Surgeons. He founded Nigeria’s first online maternity service (www.pregnancynigeria.com). Besides his medical training, Dr Ohihoin is a trained Arbitrator and Mediator with a bias toward resolving disputes in the health sector. He became a member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators of the United Kingdom, after becoming the first Nigerian medical doctor to pass the accelerated membership exams. He subsequently became the first Nigerian doctor to pass the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators Fellowship exams in November 2019. He is also a Centre for Effective Dispute Resolution (CEDR), UK-accredited mediator, becoming the first Nigerian medical doctor to have achieved this feat. He was thereafter admitted into the Lagos State Panel of Neutrals. His experience in mediation is diverse but largely in the health sector, where he has been involved in several high-profile mediations. Dr Ohihoin is a faculty for the Mediation Skills Training (MST) of the Lagos Multidoor Court (LMDC). His current research area in the field of Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) is on how to introduce ADR training in health sector settings. He founded the Medical Dispute and Conflict Resolution Limited (MDCRL)- an organization committed to advocacy and training in the field of mediation and dispute resolution in the health industry.
