Personal bio
Yasemin is the founding partner of Cetinel Law firm. She established the firm after having worked in high ranked Istanbul firms and her practice from the first day involved construction law and dispute resolution including investment cases stemming from construction projects.
The specific focus of Yasemin to construction law is strengthened by her second degree on Quantity Surveying from Heriot Watt University, after which she gained a deeper perspective of quantum side of the construction projects and at the execution phase and at the dispute stage.
Accordingly she provides advice to her long-term clients at tenders all around the world, actively represents clients in contract negotiations of significant projects (upstream and downstream level) and equally is specialized in disputes.
Her approach to construction disputes is always on avoidance basis and she prioritizes clients’ long-term interests. This led her to be an active supporter and promoter of dispute boards, she chaired Dispute Resolution Board Foundation (Region 2) after several years of service as a board member.
She led and still is leading and representing clients in construction arbitrations before various arbitral institutions. The size of the arbitration cases gradually augmented throughout the 12 years since the firm was established, which provided her with a sound and efficient know-how and a deserved trustworthiness vis-à-vis clients.
The dedication to the development of the industry and construction law also led her to become one of the founding members of SCL Turkey (where she serves as president since 2021).
