Mike is a senior associate Carey Olsen, a leading offshore law firm. He is part of the litigation team in Jersey, specialising in commercial disputes. Mike's fields of activity include international arbitration, mediation, expert determination and cross-border litigation. He also works with transactional colleagues supporting deals by reviewing litigation risks, negotiating the transfer of litigation assets and mitigating post-acquisition fall-out. He has experience supporting clients in the energy, infrastructure and financial services sectors. Mike has broad experience including the resolution of cross-border post-acquisition disputes relating to warranty claims and deferred consideration, advising clients in exiting long term contractual relationships and successful migration and establishment of new international supply chains. He has also acted for both private and public sector clients in ad hoc and institutional international arbitrations. Mike is admitted in South Africa (Attorney) and in England & Wales (Solicitor). Mike holds a BSc (financial modelling) (UNISA), LLB (University of Cape Town), BPhil (cum laude) (Maritime Studies) (Stellenbosch University) and MPhil (cum laude) (Maritime Studies) (Stellenbosch University). He is a certified commercial mediator (University of Cape Town) and a Member of The Chartered Institute of Arbitrators. Over the last several years Mike has been a regular guest lecturer at Stellenbosch University on Incoterms and other topics relating to international trade.
