Personal bio
James has 30 years experience in shipping, international trade, offshore energy, insurance and general commercial disputes.
He obtained his bachelor's degree (LLB) from the University of Sheffield and master's degree (LLM) from the University of Cambridge. He practiced as a solicitor with international law firms in London and Singapore before returning to Malaysia to practise as an advocate and solicitor of Malaya. He has an active arbitration practise acting as counsel and expert witness.
James was admitted as a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators in 2012. He is on the panel of amongst others, the Asian Institute of Arbitration (AIAC), Singapore Chamber of Maritime Arbitration (SCMA), Borneo International Centre for Arbitration and Mediation (BICAM) and is regularly appointed as arbitrator in domestic and international disputes.
