Frequently Asked Questions

Are your courses internationally recognised?

Ciarb courses in International Arbitration and Mediation are internationally recognised.

There are some university courses that are recognised by Ciarb and therefore could lead to membership. Please check the Training Partnership and Recognised Course Provider section of the Ciarb website.

Why would I sit your courses rather than at a university?

Universities will generally offer academic courses, whereas Ciarb offers professional courses, delivered by experienced practitioners and subject matter experts.

There are some university courses which are recognised by Ciarb and therefore could lead to membership, please see the  Recognised Course Provider section of the Ciarb website.

I'm interested in training but not based in London, what should I do?

Virtual training is available and managed by Ciarb headquarters for all our qualification courses. If you are interested in face-to-face training, we provide training opportunities worldwide through our Branch network. The training is based on course materials, content and syllabus, all of which have been fully developed and approved by Ciarb headquarters.

Can I take my assessment in my home country?

No. As of 2020, all assessments are completed online via our learning platform and managed by Ciarb headquarters for quality assurance purposes.

However, it is possible to arrange for examinations to be sat elsewhere, for example, at a Ciarb Branch or a special examination centre. Candidates who wish to sit an examination at a Ciarb Branch or a special examination centre in their home country should alert the Institute at least four weeks prior to the examination and finalise their own arrangements with the external venue.

Candidates will be responsible for any additional local charges for invigilation and facilities.

How will I receive my results?

Candidates should receive their results within 12 weeks of submitting their assessment.
