Overview

The Ciarb Scottish Branch Annual Lecture will take place immediately following the Annual Conference at the Royal Society of Edinburgh and will be followed by a networking reception.

Ciarb Members are invited to attend the Branch's Annual General Meeting beginning at 18:30.

The Chairman's guest speaker is Gillian Carmichael Lemaire.

Gillian, Chair of the Board of the Scottish Arbitration Centre, who has been a Director of the Centre since December 2020, is an independent arbitrator and mediator working in the UK and internationally. She started out as a litigator in Glasgow and has spent most of her 40-year career in Paris in international arbitration and, in the last decade, mediation, including partner roles in international law firms. She is an Honorary advocate (Paris Bar), a Fellow of the Law Society of Scotland, a Fellow of the Ciarb, and a former Vice Chair of Ciarb’s London Branch committee. Gillian is also a visiting lecturer in international arbitration at the University of Aberdeen and a Member of the Advisory Council to the Board of ArbitralWomen.

The Agenda for the Annual General Meeting will be as follows:

1. Apologies for absence.

2. Minutes of the 54th Annual General Meeting held on Thursday 25 April 2024.

3. To receive the Chair’s Report.

4. To receive and approve the Financial Statements and the Auditor’s Report.

5. To approve the election of new Committee Members for the forthcoming year.

6. To consider and if appropriate vote upon any Special Business.

7. Informal discussion.
