VENUES FOR THE 2030 AND 2034 FOOTBALL WORLD CUP

Join Ciarb Iberian Chapter for this in-person event. The discussion will focus on the construction of sports venues, specifically relating to the 2030 FIFA World Cup in Morocco, Spain, and Portugal, as well as the 2034 World Cup in Saudi Arabia. The panel will explore the development of mega construction projects, examining their progress, challenges, risks, and the measures taken to prevent disputes.

Given that construction of the Messina Bridge finally commenced in June 2024—after 30 years of deliberation—and discussions around the Morocco-Spain tunnel have also spanned three decades, there is renewed interest from both the Spanish and Moroccan governments in advancing this infrastructure in light of the 2030 World Cup. Similarly, the Saudi Arabian bid for the 2034 tournament brings additional geostrategic considerations, including sustainability, resource management, and the role of international dispute prevention, in alignment with the United Nations’ guiding principles on fostering understanding between nations.

This event will bring together academics, professionals, business leaders, arbitrators, mediators, and industry experts to share their knowledge and experiences in ADR as it applies to sports, construction, and civil engineering.

The goal is to provide a comprehensive overview of the ADR process in international construction contracts that link Europe and Africa, offering attendees valuable insights into dispute resolution in these high-stakes, cross-border projects.

This is the second event in the series, the first being held in October 2024.
