About the assessment

 

If you have completed our Introduction to ADR course, then this assessment is for you. It is your opportunity to demonstrate your understanding of the various methods of alternative dispute resolution. Successful completion of this assessment leads to eligibility for Ciarb Associate membership.

The assessment is an online multiple-choice test accessed via LearnADR, Ciarb's online learning platform. You will have 28 days in which to complete and submit the assessment and must achieve a minimum overall mark of 55% to pass the assessment.

Results are made available immediately upon completion.

Because this assessment is available on-demand, you can take it as soon as you have completed the Introduction to ADR course. As such, the start date shown on this page may be ignored.

Eligibility

 

To book this assessment, you must have first booked the corresponding Introduction to Alternative Dispute Resolution course.

Important: Before booking, you are responsible for ensuring that your English language skills are at Professional Working Proficiency level. This level is required when enrolling for any Ciarb course or assessment. Ciarb does not require evidence of this prior to enrolment. It is recommended that you achieve a standard that is, as a minimum, equivalent to the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) level 7 or a score of 94-101 in the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) system. Please note that Ciarb does not require an official IELTS or TOEFL result.

Assessment fee

 

The assessment fee is £72.00 including VAT.  The fee includes registration on the assessment and three attempts to successfully pass the assessment.

Frequently Asked Questions

How will I be assessed?

The assessment comprises 60 multiple-choice questions selected randomly from a pool.

 

You will have 3 attempts to the take the test.

 

Once you have started an attempt you will have 7 days to submit your assessment. If you do not submit your test within the 7 days you will receive a fail for that attempt.

 

To pass, you must achieve a score of 55% (33 marks).

 

You will receive your result immediately after submitting your assessment. When you pass, you will have the option to print out a certificate confirming your achievement.

What is LearnADR?

LearnADR is Ciarb's online learning platform.

 

Once you have purchased the course, you can access it by going to your MyCiarb dashboard and clicking on 'My Courses'. There you will find a red button that says, 'LearnADR'.

 

How long will the assessment take me to complete?

You will have 28 days in which to complete and submit the assessment. On average, it takes approximately 2 hours to complete the assessment.

What is my next step when I complete the assessment?

On successful completion of the course and assessment, you:

 

  • will be awarded an Introductory Certificate.
  • may progress onto any of Ciarb’s Module 1 courses in Mediation, Domestic Arbitration, International Arbitration or Construction Adjudication,
  • will be eligible to apply for Associate grade membership of Ciarb and take advantage of a range of membership benefits.

 

Please note that you must apply for membership within two years of successfully completing the assessment.
