Dr Isabel Phillips

Director of Policy and ADR Development

Isabel is responsible for mediation policy and development and Ciarb’s Education and Training reform programme.

Isabel joined Ciarb in 2021, is a Ciarb Member and has over 25 years’ experience as a conflict specialist and mediator. She is a German-qualified conflict specialist (FFK), with experience in mediating and delivering dialogue programmes in fragile and post-conflict environments internationally. She is also a CEDR accredited mediator and has worked with CEDR for many years as a mediator, consultant and as lead faculty.

Isabel’s PhD was awarded for a thesis on the practice and theory of mediation in commercial political conflict. She has been a Visiting Lecturer at the University of Westminster Law School and Institute of Advanced Legal Studies. Isabel is a member of the Advisory Board to the Conflict Research Society and a jury member for their prestigious ‘Book of the Year’ prize.
