The European Branch invites you to join the online event moderated by Dr Tadas Varapnickas and Patricija Rukštelytė who both practice international arbitration at TGS Baltic in Lithuania.
This event aims to examine the issue of corruption in international arbitration. The event will consist of two parts. In the first part Professor Dr Mohamed S. Abdel Wahab MCIArb will deliver his keynote speech on use of technology as a mean to fight corruption in international arbitration.
During the second part of the event – the renowned speakers – Barton Legum, Domitille Baizeau ACIArb and Vilius Bernatonis FCIArb will discuss the issue of corruption from different angles – arbitrator’s, parties’, arbitral institutions’ and national courts. This discussion will try to determine the best practices in fighting corruption in arbitration as well as to discuss the problems of ‘fake arbitrations’ when arbitration proceedings are used for illegal purposes such as money-laundering.

Mr Legum is a partner at Dentons’ Paris office and head of the firm’s investment treaty arbitration practice. He has over 30 year’s experience in litigating complex cases. His practice focuses on international arbitration in general and arbitration in investment treaties in particular.
Mr Bernatonis FCIArb is a managing partner of TGS Baltic Lithuania’s office and head of CIArb’s European Branch pan-Baltic chapter. He has been involved in both investment and commercial arbitration disputes and acts both as counsel and arbitrator. His main area of specialization is energy and banking & finance.
