Become an Accredited Mediator! Mediation is increasingly used as an effective way of resolving complex disputes outside of court.

Develop your knowledge and understanding of mediation through this practical and comprehensive course.

Delivered by experienced practising mediators this skills-based learning course enables you to gain a good understanding of the mediation process and relevant skills to support a mediation. This course will help you to understand:

  • What conflict is and how it arises.
  • What a mediator does and how mediation differs from other forms of ADR.
  • The core skills required to be an effective mediator.
  • The main mediation strategies.

On successful completion of the Module 1 assessment, you will be able to:

  • Apply to become a Member of Ciarb (MCIArb) – ideal if you are keen to develop your ADR career and professional network.
  • Progress on to the Module 2: Law of Obligations course.

Once you have successfully passed the Module 1 assessment and have been admitted as a Ciarb Member, you become a Ciarb Accredited Mediator.

This course is also recognised by the Civil Mediation Council. The CMC is the recognised authority for matters related to civil, commercial, workplace and other non-family mediation. It is the first point of contact for the Government, the judiciary, the legal profession and industry on mediation issues.

How is the course delivered?

The course and assessment are delivered virtually.

The course comprises two half-days of skills-based learning a week for seven weeks delivered by experienced, practising mediators. The assessment takes place in week eight.
